STAYING AT HARBOR HOUSE

Guest Information

Harbor House is a four room hospital hospitality house, located two short blocks south of University of Rochester Medical Center. It is within walking distance to many restaurants, banks, hair salons and grocery stores. It is a short drive to a major mall and several more restaurants and shops. The hospital hospitality house is primarily intended for adult family members who have traveled 50+ miles because a patient is being seen at one of our area hospitals for a serious medical condition such as heart failure, liver failure, a traumatic injury, etc.

IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW

  • Harbor House is intended for adults 18+
  • Patients must be accompanied by a caregiver and must be healthy enough to be discharged to home
  • We are a no smoking facility
  • Pets, weapons, alcohol and illegal drugs are not permitted
  • The house has four bedrooms and one room is allowed per patient

EACH ROOM INCLUDES

  • A private bathroom
  • Two twin sized beds (one room has a queen and a twin)
  • An alarm clock, flat screen TV, ROKU, DVD player and Cable TV.

SHARED LIVING SPACES INCLUDE

  • Two kitchens- with basic cooking equipment provided- meals are not provided
  • Free laundry facilities
  • Living room with a gas fire place
  • Rec room w/ flat screen TV, HBO, DVD player, games, puzzles, books & magazines
  • Guest computer and printer
  • Outdoor patio

  • The house is on a secure wireless network
  • Parking lot, one vehicle per room
  • Within walking distance of the University of Rochester Medical Center
  • Easy expressway access to other hospitals

Registration and Cost

  • Initial requests for lodging are coordinated by your social worker or the staff on your hospital unit
  • Guests are asked to check-in by 5:00PM weekdays (unless otherwise arranged with the staff in advance)
  • Weekend check-ins are by appointment only
  • Check outs should be arranged with the staff
  • A nightly fee is collected for each room. Rates vary depending on the length of stay.
  • Financial aid is available for qualified guests and is determined on a case by case basis

Health and Safety

  • Because we serve a population that is often immune suppressed, we take pride and special care to keep our house clean and as free of communicable disease as possible
  • For the safety of our guests during the COVID-19 pandemic, we will not register any guests who have any communicable illness or have been exposed to one in the past 14 days.
