While staying 28 days in Sarah’s Guest House in Syracuse New York, I wondered if Rochester had a similar guest house.
Harbor House of Rochester has answered that question.
There’s nothing worse than having a loved one in a hospital for an extended time with nowhere to go and get some much needed rest.
I just admire how people rally to help people in need, especially when crisis can happen when least expected.
Thank you Harbor House for being there for family members in need.

Once again I like to think about Joan and Harbor House. It’s hard to realize it’s been 7 years since I spent 4 months in Harbor House. The outcome for me was not what I hoped for. Because of you and the house I was able to spend the last month of my husband's life with him. I will always be grateful for making my stay much easier then having to travel back and forth to my home town. Joan I will always cherish your friendship. ??

What a great place to stay. Our family has had numerous medical issues in the past 14-16 months, and we have been blessed to be able to utilize the Harbor House. The atmosphere is calm, quiet, clean, and is 100% geared towards great service (while making it very comfortable during “hard times” that the families are enduring). Highly recommend the use of this great hospitality option . A++++ !!!

I can't say enough about Joan. She has always been there for me and my husband Steve. He had his LVAD in March 2011 and received his heart on August 24, 2016. She is our second family and Harbor House is our second home. All the volunteers are wonderful. We have meet some amazing families and made new friends. Harbor House holds a very special place in my heart.

My heart will always be with Harbor House. Back in 2011 my husband Les Peters was in Strong hospital for a heart transplant. My stay at the house was wonderful. I don't know what I would have done with out Joan and the many people I met while I stayed there for 4 months. Thanks again Harbor House. GOD bless. Kathy Peters

On January 23, 2014, my wife Dianne had a liver transplant at Strong Memorial Hospital. I stayed at the Harbor House during my wife's recovery. It was a wonderful home away from home for me. I would walk to the hospital everyday, as it was just two short blocks away. The Harbor House is a warm and very welcoming place, with all the comforts of home. We bonded with other families that were staying at the house, and with the many volunteers that looked after the tasks associated with the running of the house. Joan Malley (directing manager of the house) is such a warm, friendly, and compassionate person. She was always available to guide me through any of my needs. Mary Crowley has become a very dear friend to us. After a long day at the hospital, it felt so good to come home to the house and make ourselves some dinner, relax, and talk with the other family members about their days. Thank you Harbor House.

My husband was at Strong for a heart transplant. I stayed at the Harbor House for nearly 2 years. I was not from the Rochester area, so had it not been for the Harbor House it would have been impossible for me to be by my husband's side at that time. I was totally comfortable with the home and staff. It lifted a great burden off my shoulders, and made it a home away from home atmosphere. It is with pleasure for me to recommend this home when I was going through some of my darkest hours. God bless this wonderful home for giving me the stability you need at a time like this

The Harbor House was such a wonderful place to stay during such a difficult time. Joan & all the volunteers work so hard to make it a comforting and caring environment. It was so helpful to be just minutes away from the hospital and not have to walk into a hotel room after a long day at Strong. The Harbor House is a beautiful place with all the comforts of home. I will forever be thankful it was there for me.

Hi Everyone,
It's hard to believe that autumn is in full force with daylight savings time just around the corner. Once again this year we will be putting on a dinner for the families that will be staying at the Harbor House during the Thanksgiving holiday. If you are interested and are able to help provide any of the dishes needed for a Thanksgiving dinner, please contact me via e-mail or by phone at 585-473-1779. I look forward to hearing from you.
Gratefully yours,
Joan
