Harbor House Raises Awareness for Women’s Heart Health

Posted - December 27, 2025

February has been American Heart Month since 1964, and the goal historically has been to build awareness of heart disease as the #1 cause of death . . . of men, mostly.  But recent studies have shown that women are actually more prone to heart problems due to several unique factors such as certain health problems during pregnancy, treatment of breast cancer, menopause and hormones.  So, it makes sense to take a closer look at the impact of cardiovascular disease and its prevention in women.

To that end in 2026, Harbor House will present ‘Take Heart, Go Red’ on Sunday, February 22 in recognition of women’s heart health.  The event will feature an engaging panel discussion by local women luminaries leading the charge against heart disease in women and will provide timely and edifying tips on new treatments and lifestyle measures to improve heart health for women.  The event is FREE and will be held at the Brickstone Wintergarden Room by St.John’s at 1325 Elmwood Avenue from 3 to 5 pm.  Save the Date and Go Red like you mean it!
