Job Description

House Coordinator

Harbor House of Rochester, Inc. Is a 501(c)(3) non profit that is committed to the community, providing a “home-away-from-home” for the families of adult patients from outside the area who are receiving medical treatment in Rochester for life-threatening illnesses. Harbor House offers convenient, affordable accommodation in a supportive environment to reduce the emotional and financial stress faced by families during a medical crisis. In 2023, Harbor House provided over 1,300 nights of rest to over 100 families. We’re looking for applicants who will invest themselves in Harbor House to help our guests and organization.

This position is 20 to 30 hours a week, primarily in-person with potential for hybrid after an appropriate on-boarding period. The position is primarily weekdays with some weekend and evening shifts required for special events. On-call hours during evenings and weekends are required. During on-call hours, a staff member must be available to answer their mobile phone and occasionally respond to on-site needs.


  • Maintaining a supportive presence for all guests staying at the house
  • Taking reservations and updating the guest registration software
  • Cleaning, including guest bedrooms and bathrooms
  • Supervising and coordinating volunteer activities
  • Clerical and administrative tasks including updating CRM and WordPress website
  • Special projects, such as event planning, grant writing, and marketing campaigns
  • Assisting with email newsletters and social media postings
  • Participate in board meetings


  • $17-21/hour commensurate with experience.
  • Paid time off and holidays.

Required Qualifications

  • A welcoming personality – accepting of guests & volunteers
  • A high degree of empathy and compassion for guests
  • The ability to work independently and the willingness to perform a variety of tasks
  • Familiarity with Microsoft suite products
  • Willingness and ability to learn guest registration software, CRM database and WordPress website
  • Physical ability to carry laundry up and down two flights of stairs, clean rooms & bathrooms, make beds, vacuum and mop
